Let’s face it… gun safes are important.
Sure, they’re not as sexy as buying the actual guns that go in them, but they prevent thieves from stealing your property (which you spent your hard-earned money on)…
…and they keep your children safe, which for me is even more important.
A good safe is really something you should have in your home, and there are a ton of great options out there right now.
In fact, there are so many that you might be a little hesitant to pick one… So to help you out, I created a list of my top 5 best gun safes.
I’ve tried to include safes with price tags that range across the spectrum (something for everyone)…
…and I’ve included different sizes that should have you covered no many how many guns you own. So let’s jump into the list!
1. Stack-On 22 Gun Security Safe With Combination Lock
I think Stack-On is one of the best gun safe brands out there right now, and the Stack-On 22 Gun Safe with a combination lock is probably one of their best models.
I love this safe because, first of all, you actually get a lot of usable storage space…
As the name implies, you can configure it to hold 22 long guns, or you can configure it hold less long guns but also have shelving for extra storage.
On the shelving, you can store things like ammunition, handguns, range equipment, and other firearms accessories.
In addition to that, you can also include valuable documents you keep at home and perhaps jewelry within this safe.
It’s built to be very secure with six locking points to prevent thieves from prying it open, and it has a hardened steel plate right behind the lock which prevents it from being tampered with.
I also like the combination lock because it’s easy to use and gives you relatively quick access to your guns.
The best part about this gun safe is that it really doesn’t cost too much money for the amount of storage and security that you’re getting.
So like I said, I think it’s a great safe, and I consider it to currently be the best long gun safe for the money.
2. Barska Quick Access Biometric Rifle Safe
The next safe on my list is the Barska Quick Access Biometric Rifle Safe…
This is a wonderful gun safe, and I actually recommended it to a friend very recently who wanted a small safe for his guns but still something that was high quality.
That’s exactly what you get with the Barska Quick Access Safe (and it actually does come in larger versions as well!).
It’s small and compact so you can store it anywhere in your house, but it is still very tough…
It’s built from heavy-duty steel, and it has strong deadbolts that will prevent thieves from being able to pry it open. It also has the really cool feature of being able to open by scanning your fingerprint.
I really like this feature because it allows you to access the guns within your safe very quickly, which could be extremely useful if you run into an emergency home defense situation.
You really don’t want to be fiddling around with a combination lock or keys if that’s the case, and the fingerprint scanning feature on this safe will definitely speed up the process.
Last, because the Barska Quick Access Safe is a relatively small safe, it comes in at a very competitive price considering the quality you get.
All in all, I think it’s a great option if you have a small number of guns that you want to keep secure in your home.
3. Steelwater Heavy Duty 20 Long Gun Safe
The next safe on my list is the Steelwater Heavy Duty 20 Long Gun Safe. I think Steelwater might be the best gun safe manufacturer…
Their gun safes are just built to last and super secure. I like the Heavy Duty 20 Gun Safe because it gives you a lot of storage space.
As the name says, you can configure it to hold 20 long guns or to have extra shelving. The extra shelving allows you to store handguns, range equipment, ammunition, and other firearms accessories.
In addition to that, this safe has an easy to use EMP digital keypad. I really like the digital keypad because it means you don’t have to carry around a key, and it allows you to have relatively quick access to your guns.
Now, this safe is one of the Heavy Duty Steelwater safes, which means it has several features that make it tougher than the standard models.
For example, it has a tri-spoke handle and the drill resistant plate behind the lock is 8 times larger than what the standard models are equipped with.
The steel door is also beefier, and the whole safe is just built to be stronger. In addition to that, it’s a fire-rated safe for up to 60 minutes…
So if you have any important documents that you want to keep protected in addition to your guns, this Steelwater safe is a great choice.
Another cool feature is the automatic LED interior lighting that comes included with this safe. I like it because you can look through your safe without having to take out a flashlight or rigging up your own lighting system.
I also really like the included door organizer which allows you to store handguns and other firearms accessories and gives you even more usable storage space.
It really is a great safe, and considering all the features, I think the price is pretty reasonable.
4. Stack-On 16 Long Gun Safe
The next safe on the list is the Stack-On 16 Long Gun Safe…
Like I’ve already mentioned Stack-On is one of the best gun safe brands out there, and I think their 16 long gun safe is a good option for a lot of people.
It’s a little bit more compact than the 20 long gun safe, but at the same time, it still gives you a pretty good amount of storage space.
As the name implies it can be configured to hold 16 long guns, or just like the other models, it can be configured with extra shelving.
Once again, the extra shelving gives you space for handguns, ammunition, range equipment, and other firearms accessories that you might want to keep in your safe.
Again, it has the easy-to-use electronic combination lock, and the steel bolts are extremely strong and secure.
It will be able to hold up against prying and tampering, and I personally think it’s a solid safe that comes in at a great price.
So depending on the number of guns you have the Stack-On 16 long gun safe might be a great option to go with.
5. Steelwater Extreme Duty 45 Long Gun Safe
The last safe on my list is the Steelwater Extreme Duty 45 Long Gun Safe. Honestly, I think this is the best long gun safe on the market.
This thing is massive, and it’s super tough. With this safe, you get an insane amount of storage space.
As the name says, it can be configured to hold 45 long guns or with extra shelving.
Once again, the extra shelving can be used for handguns, ammunition, range equipment, other firearms accessories, and anything you’d want to keep protected in a safe.
The EMP digital keypad is super easy to use, and it allows you to access your guns relatively quickly.
In addition to that, it’s an Extreme Duty Steelwater safe, which means it’s built to be tougher than their Standard Duty and even their Heavy Duty models.
For example, the steel door is extremely strong on the Extreme Duty Steelwater models, and the half-inch steel locking bolts are even longer than those on the Heavy Duty models.
In addition to that, it’s fire-rated for 120 Minutes… So you can keep important documents and other items aside from your guns in this safe without fear of them being damaged.
It also has an included automatic interior LED lighting system, which brightens up the inside of your safe…
…and the included door organizer allows you to have even more space to store handguns and other firearms accessories.
Simply put, this safe is massive and super secure, and considering the amount of security it provides, I think it’s well worth the price.
Top 5 Best Gun Safes – Conclusions…
In the end, the right choice for you will depend on your budget and the number of guns you own.
If you have the money and a large number of guns, I say go with the Steelwater Extreme Duty Safe because, as I mentioned before, it’s insanely secure and has a TON of storage space…
If you don’t have a lot of money and only have a couple of long guns, the Barska Quick Access Safe might be a great choice for you…
And if you’ve got a few guns and are looking to find a great mid-range gun safe, I’d seriously consider the Stack-On 20 Long Gun Safe.
The bottom line is that any safe on this list will serve you well and should provide the security you need to keep unwanted hands off of your guns.
I hope this helps you out on your search for the perfect gun safe!
