/ by
best red dot for walther pdp

The Walther PDP is an amazing little handgun…

It basically takes all the great features of previous generations of Walther pistols, and upgrades them to give you a handgun that can handle any task…

One of those upgrades is the inclusion of an optic cut right from the factory, but that begs the question… What is the best red dot for the Walther PDP?

That’s a great question, and this article will be answering it by giving you my list of the 6 best Walther PDP red dot sights

In the end, you’ll have a solid understanding of some of the best red dot sights that are currently available…

And you should have all the information you need to determine which is going to work best for you…

Let’s get started!

*Important Note: Each Walther PDP pistol includes a free optic plate in the purchase. So, after deciding on your choice of Red Dot, go to their Website, Walther Arms Optic Plate Request, and choose your mounting kit. Alternatively, give them a call at 479-242-8500. But, first, let me help you decide on the best red dot for your Walther PDP.

Best Red Dot For The Walther PDP – Top 6 List…

The best red dot for the Walther PDP is the Trijicon RMR Type 2. It’s the best because it has an extremely robust sight housing (that sets the standard for pistol optics), 4 years of battery life, improved internal electronics over the Type 1, and it can be had in a number of different reticle options…

Below, I’ll give you more detail explaining why I think the RMR type 2 is the best Walther PDP red dot sight…

And I’ll also share with you 5 other amazing options that you should consider.

1. The Trijicon RMR Type 2 (Best Walther PDP Red Dot!)

best co witness sights for walther pdp

First on my list is the Trijicon RMR Type 2, and it’s the best Walther PDP red dot for several reasons. First of all, RMR actually stands for ‘Ruggedized Miniature Reflex Sight’ and it’s pretty much the gold standard for pistol optics when it comes to durability and reliability…

It features a forged Aluminum housing which has Trijicon’s patented ‘owl ear’ top, and that top gives you extra protection where you really need it (just over the lens)…

On top of that, the RMR is also shockproof and waterproof in up to 20 meters of water (or 60 feet), which is an incredible waterproof rating for a little pistol optic…

And the Type 2 is designed specifically to handle the abuse of being mounted on a pistol slide (unlike the RMR Type 1), so it can easily handle the recoil from the Walther PDP…

In addition to that, the RMR can be had in a number of different models and in a number of different reticle sizes. The two most popular options are definitely the 3.25 MOA dot model and the 6.5 MOA dot model…

And out of the two, my favorite is the 3.25 MOA model because the dot is very easy and quick for your eye to pick up, but at the same time it’s fairly small and gives you a very precise aiming point to make accurate shots…

The RMR also runs on 1 CR2032 battery which will last you for around 4 years (which is great battery life!), and you get 8 brightness settings including an extra bright setting for super bright conditions and 2 NV settings if you want to use your RMR will night vision equipment…

Last, the RMR footprint is the most common footprint in use today when it comes to pistol optics, and because you can request an adapter plate from Walther, you can easily mount the RMR on your PDP without any hassles…

So all in all, the RMR is still the king of handgun red dots because of it’s legendary durability and reliability, and it’s an amazing optic for the Walther PDP because it gives you great battery life and the ability to choose which reticle size will work best for you.

The Trijicon RMR Type 2 Features And Benefits

2. The Holosun 508T X2

walther pdp with red dot

A very close number 2 on my list, is the Holosun 508T X2, and like the RMR, it’s an insanely durable little red dot sight. To begin, the “T” actually stands for titanium, and that’s the material used to construct the sight housing on this optic, which makes it super strong…

It also features a flat top, which Holosun has found to be a little more impact resistant than their round top designs, and it’s also IP67 waterproof, which means it’ll easily handle rain and snow…

When it comes to the reticle, you get Holosun’s Multiple Reticle System (MRS) which means you have 3 reticle options programed into the sight. The 3 reticle options include a 2 MOA dot, a 32 MOA circle, and a combination of the two, the Holosun Circle Dot Reticle…

Out of the 3, my favorite is the Circle Dot Reticle because it helps you shoot super fast and accurate at the same time. In addition to that, you get 50,000 hours of battery life (on setting 6) with 1 CR1632 battery, and you also get Holosun’s Shake Awake Technology (which will help you save even more battery life), the Solar Failsafe (so you can use your sight even without a battery), and a side loading battery tray to make battery changes fast and easy when the time comes…

The 508T also features 10 daylight brightness settings which get extremely bright on the high end and 2 NV settings which can be used along with Night Vision equipment…

Last, the 508T features the same footprint as the Trijicon RMR, and when you request an adapter plate from Walther, you’ll be able to quickly and easily mount the 508T on your PDP…

So all in all, the 508T is a super durable optic that is packed with tons of useful features, and it’d be a great little optic to pair with the Walther PDP.

The Holosun 508T X2 Features And Benefits

Titanium housingExtra Durability
Solar failsafeIt helps when the battery runs out of power
Shake awakeSaves battery power
12 Brightness settingsAdjust to any light condition

3. The Trijicon SRO

walther pdp optics plate

Number 3 on the list is the Trijicon SRO, and there are a number reasons why it’s a fantastic optic for the Walther PDP. To begin, SRO stands for “Specialized Reflex Optic”, and this sight was designed with a slightly different emphasis than my number 1 pick, the Trijicon RMR…

You see, the RMR is built to give you maximum durability, and even though the SRO is also a very durable sight (it has a 7075 T6 Aluminum sight housing and is waterproof in up to 10 feet of water), it’s primary focus is to give you an edge when you’re performance shooting (in other words, it helps you shoot faster and more accurately)…

One of the ways it does this is by giving you a HUGE sight window. You can really see a lot when looking through the SRO, and that helps you track your dot quicker and then shoot faster…

On top of that, you can get the SRO in several different reticle versions including a 1 MOA dot model, a 2.5 MOA dot model, and a 5 MOA dot model. My favorite option of the 3 is the 2.5 MOA model because I think it gives you the best balance of speed and precision when shooting, but all of the options work well…

Aside from that, the SRO runs on 1 CR2032 battery which gives you around 3 years worth of battery life, and because you have a top loading battery, you can quickly and easily change out your battery without any hassles when it comes time to do so…

Last, the SRO features the same foot print as the RMR which, again, is great because it’s the most common pistol optic footprint, and you can easily request an adapter plate from Walther and get it mounted on your PDP.

The Trijicon SRO Features And Benefits

Large window Bigger view for quick target engagement
Ambidextrous brightness control Caters to the left- or right-handed shooters
Eight Brightness settingsIncluding two NV-compatible settings
2.0 MOA DotFor more accurate shooting
Multi-coated lenses For more crisp and clear views
Capless lens design Using sub-flush adjusters

4. The Holosun HE509T X2

best iron sights for walther pdp

Number 4 on the list is another Holosun, and it’s the HE509T X2. Just like with the 508T, the “T” signifies the Titanium housing which makes this sight extremely durable and rugged…

On top of that, it’s also IP67 Waterproof, so it’ll easily handle any wet conditions, but the major difference between the 509T and every other optic on this list is that it’s an enclosed emitter pistol red dot…

You see, the emitter is what projects the reticle on the lens, and on most pistol red dots, the emitter is exposed, which means you can potentially get mud or debris on it, and your dot will stop appearing. But having the emitter enclosed in two lenses (the same way most rifle red dots work), eliminates that from ever happening…

Now, aside from the enclosed emitter, the 509T is very similar to the 508T that I mentioned earlier. You still get the Holosun Mulitple Reticle System with 3 reticle options, and you also get the 50,000 hours of battery life, the Shake Awake technology, the Solar Panel, and the easy to use side-loading battery tray…

The one other major difference is that the footprint that you get on the 509T is a proprietary footprint (not like the RMR). But the good news is that Walther does have a 509T plate which you can request from their website…

Once you have that plate, you’ll be able to easily mount the 509T onto your Walther, and you’ll have one of the toughest enclosed pistol optics on your PDP helping you make fast and accurate shots.

The Holosun HE509T Features And Benefits

Enclosed optical Red Dot sightProtection against debris and fog
Titanium housingSuper durability
Multi-Reticle systemThree choices between the dot or circle or both
Shake Awake featureA motion sensor will wake up the device
Solar Failsafe featureWill provide power when the battery dies

5. The Holosun 507C X2 (Great Budget Option!)

best green dot for walther pdp

Alright, I’m sure you’ve noticed that this is the 3rd Holosun on my list. I can’t help it, I love Holosun’s red dots because they are packed with useful features, and usually come in at a very reasonable price. And that’s exactly the case with the 507C X2…

Now, the 507C is very similar to the 508T that I mentioned earlier, but one of the major differences is that the sight housing is made from 7075 T6 Aluminum rather than Titanium. Keep in mind that 7075 T6 Aluminum is a very strong and lightweight material, and the 507C has definitely built it’s own reputation for ruggedness and reliability over the years…

Another differences is that the 507C has a rounded top rather than a square top. Again, the square top on the 508T is a little bit tougher, but when you look at the 507C’s lens shroud, you can see that it is very beefy and gives you a lot of protection over your sight’s lens…

Aside from that, most of the other features on the 507C are exactly the same as the 508T, which is awesome! It’s still IP67 waterproof, and you get Holosun’s Multiple Reticle System (so 3 awesome reticle choices)…

And you also get 50,000 hours of battery life, Holosun’s Shake Awake technology, a Solar Panel, and a convenient side loading battery tray to make battery changes fast and easy…

Last, the footprint that you get on the 507C is (once again) the RMR footprint, which is great because you can request an adapter plate from Walther and then easily mount it onto your PDP…

So all in all, the 507C is another fantastic pistol red dot from Holosun, and its a great option if you like the features of the 508T or the RMR but would like to save a little bit of money.

The Holosun 507C X2 Features And Benefits

Multi-coating lens For protection and durability
MagnificationThe 1x magnification for clearer vision
Multiple reticle systemChoose a 2 MOA dot, a 32 MOA circle, or Circle Dot Reticle
Solar FailsafeBackup power when the battery dies
Shake Awake technologyThe device will enter sleep mode when not in use

6. The Crimson Trace RAD Pro (Great Budget Option!)

walther pdp f series red dot

The Crimson Trace Rad Pro is the last option on my list, and its actually an amazing budget optic for several reasons. First of all, it’s built to be durable…

It has an Aluminum sight housing which has angles built into it that are designed to give the sight extra impact resistance. On top of that, it’s IPX7 waterproof, so it’ll easily handle rain or snow, and it’s also shockproof and fog proof…

The reticle that you get is a 3 MOA dot, which will help you shoot fast and accurately, and the sight window is fairly clear giving you a nice clean sight picture when you’re shooting…

On top of that, the RAD Pro also gives you excellent battery life at around 20,000 hours using 1 CR1632 battery, and it also features an auto on/off feature which will save you battery life when you’re sight is not in use…

And when it comes time to change your battery, you also get a top access battery compartment, which will make swapping out your battery very quick and easy…

Last, the RAD Pro features the Doctor footprint, which is a fairly common pistol optic footprint, and you can easily mount it on to your PDP by requesting an adapter plate from Walther.

The Crimson Trace RAD Pro Features And Benefits

Angled Housing For durability
Large WindowFor better viewing
The CT Light Sensor Auto-controls the red dot’s brightness
The CT Motion Sensor To power up the device on movement
The CT Auto Shutoff Will shut off the device after eight hours of inactivity

/ by
sig p320 x5 legion red dot

The Sig P320 is an amazing handgun platform

It’s accurate, reliable, and fun to shoot, and on top of all that, Sig Sauer keeps updating the series with exciting new variations…

One of those variations is the Sig P320 X5 Legion, which is an amazingly balanced handgun and just an all-around smooth shooter…

On top of all that, it’s also an optic ready handgun…

The only question is… what’s the best Sig P320 X5 Legion red dot?

That’s a great question, and I’ll be answering it in this article by giving you my Top 5 list of the best red dots for the X5 Legion…

By the end, you’ll have a strong understanding of some of the best pistol red dots that are currently on the market…

And you should have all the information you need to determine which is going to work best for you…

Let’s get to the list!

Best Sig P320 X5 Legion Red Dot – Top 5 List…

The best Sig P320 X5 Legion red dot is the Trijicon RMR Type 2. It’s the best because it give you around 4 years of battery life, features an insanely durable sight housing (which gives you excellent reliability), and can be had in a number of different reticle sizes so you can match it to your personal preference…

Below I’ll give you more reasons why I think the RMR Type 2 is the best red dot for the P320 X5 Legion, and I’ll also share with you 4 other amazing pistol optics that you should consider.

1. Trijicon RMR Type 2 (Best Overall Pick!)

sig p320 x5 legion red dot mount

The Trijicon RMR Type 2 Adjustable LED sight is my number 1 pick for a Sig P320 X5 Legion red dot sight, and there are many reasons why. First of all, the Trijicon RMR is an insanely tough little optic…

It’s name ‘RMR’ actually stands for ‘Ruggedized Miniature Reflex Sight’ and it’s patented sqaure-top housing is designed to protect the optic lens even it if takes heavy impacts…

It’s also waterproof in up to 66 ft of water so it can easily handle rainy, snowy or any other wet conditions you can throw at it, and it’s also shockproof, with the Type 2 RMR being upgraded over the Type 1 to handle the heavy recoil of being a pistol optic…

In addition to the eight brightness settings (which include 2 NV settings), you also have several versions of the RMR that you can choose from with different reticle sizes…

That being said, the 3.25 MOA dot version and 6.5 MOA dot version are probably to two most common, and my personal preference is for the slightly more precise 3.25 MOA model just because it’ll allow you to acquire a sight picture very quickly and still give you a very fine aiming point to make accurate shots…

Furthermore, the RMR Type 2 has modified side buttons to adjust the brightness very easily, switch between manual and auto modes, or power the optic down…

On top of that, you get ultra long battery life with the RMR Type 2 as one CR2032 battery will last you for around 4 years, and the RMR is also easily mounted onto the X5 Legion with the use of an adapter plate (I like this one here)…

So all in all, the RMR is a fantastic red dot for the P320 X5 Legion because it’s insanely durable, gives you super long battery life, and can be had in a variety of different models which will allow you to get the reticle size that works best for you.

The Trijicon RMR Type 2 Features And Benefits

2. Leupold DeltaPoint Pro

what optics fit sig p320 x5 legion

It was a really difficult call when choosing the best red dot sight for the Sig P320 X5 Legion, and honestly, the Leupold Delta Point Pro could have easily been the number 1 pick…

First of all, the DeltaPoint Pro can be mounted on to the X5 Legion without the need for an adapter plate (which is pretty cool) but in addition to that, the DeltaPoint Pro is (just like the Trijicon RMR) an extremely durable and rugged pistol red dot…

It features a strong aluminum sight housing, and the lens actually has a spring steel shroud covering it which gives you a little bit of extra protection in that vulnerable spot. It’s also waterproof in up to 33 feet of water, and it’s shockproof and fog proof as well…

The reticle that you get is either a 2.5 MOA dot or a 6 MOA dot depending on your dot size preference (I prefer the 2.5 MOA dot for a little more precision), and the 8 brightness settings make the sight highly functional in all lighting conditions…

On top of that, the sight window that comes on the DeltaPoint Pro is HUGE, which gives you a large field of view when looking through the optic and makes acquiring a sight picture super fast…

The battery life on the DeltaPoint Pro is around 300 hours for one CR2032 battery. That’s a lot less than the 4 years of battery life that you get with the Trijicon RMR, but Leupold makes up for the difference in two ways…

First of all, they include Motion Sensor Technology which means your sight will automatically turn off after 5 minutes of inactivity, and it will automatically turn on when sensing motion…

And secondly, the sight has a top access battery compartment which makes battery changes fast and easy without the need to remove the optic from your gun (which can be a hassle because you have to re-zero your sight afterward)…

So all in all, the DeltaPoint Pro is another amazing red dot option for the X5 Legion because it’s super rugged and reliable, gives you a huge sight window, and unlike the Trijicon RMR, it’s doesn’t require the use of an adapter plate to mount onto your P320 X5 Legion.

The Leupold Delta Point Pro Features And Benefits

Red Dot Optical System It offers light transmission for all conditions and glare reduction
Illuminated reticleIt helps to get on target quick in low-light conditions
Motion Sensor TechnologyMST extends battery life by deactivating illumination when inactive for more than five minutes and activating again on a movement
Rugged and durable Internal gasses and sealing methods for waterproof and fog proof

3. Trijicon SRO

sig p320 x5 legion trijicon sro

Number 3 on the list is the Trijicon SRO, and I had to include this pistol red dot on the list for two main reasons. Firstly, it is a Trijicon. It’s super high-quality, and it provides an alternative option to my top pick, the Trijicon RMR Type 2

Secondly, although it has a different sight housing design, it is still remarkably durable, and the huge sight window gives you a very expansive field of view, which is perfect because it allow you to acquire your target faster and shoot quicker…

It also features eight brightness settings, and included within those you get an extra bright setting and two NV-compatible options. In addition, you can choose between 3 different models: a 1 MOA dot, a 2.5 MOA dot, or a 5 MOA dot…

The 2.5 MOA dot option is the most popular as it helps you shoot fast and accurately, and for me personally, it is my favorite option. The top-loading battery feature is also fantastic because it makes battery changes quick and easy (with no need to remove the optic from your gun), and one CR2032 will last you for around 3 years…

Similar to the RMR, you will need an adapter plate to mount this optic to your X5 Legion (here’s one that I like), and overall, the SRO is among the elite pistol red dot options…

So all in all, the Trijicon SRO is another great option for your Sig P320 X5 Legion because it’s durable, gives you a huge sight window, and has fantastic battery life with a quick-change battery compartment.

The Trijicon SRO Features And Benefits

Large Field ViewParallax-free, clear sight picture, and compatible with suppressor-height iron sights.
Top-Loading BatteryEasy and quick battery changes without losing focus
Clear and Crisp DotThe illuminated reticle and clear front lens allow a perfect field view
Lock-In Mode ButtonLocks the settings and prevents unintentional adjustments
Eight Brightness Settings It includes one super bright, and two NV-compatible modes

4. Holosun 507C X2 (Great Budget Option)

sig p320 x5 legion red dot mount

Number 4 on the list is one of my favorite pistol red dot sights, the Holosun 507C X2, and there are many reasons why I like it. Firstly, the HS507C is an affordable open reflex pistol sight, and secondly, it’s a Holosun which means it’s packed with tons of useful features…

For example, the 507C is a very robust optic. It has a high quality aluminum sight housing that is built to withstand impacts, and it’s also rated to be IP67 waterproof which means it can easily handle rainy or snowy conditions…

On top of that, it features Holosun’s Multiple Reticle System which gives you 3 reticles to choose from in one sight. The 3 choices that you get are a 2 MOA dot, a 32 MOA Circle, or the combination of the two, the Holosun Circle Dot Reticle…

All 3 reticles are useful but my favorite is the Circle Dot Reticle because the large 32 MOA circle helps you acquire targets with lightning speed, but at the same time, you still have a small 2 MOA dot in the center when you need to make shots that require a high degree of accuracy…

On top of that, the 507C runs on 1 CR1632 battery which gives you a whopping 50,000 hours (5 years) of battery life. It also features Holosun’s Shake Awake technology (which will save you even more battery life), a Solar panel (which will allow you to run the optic without a battery), and a side loading battery tray to make battery changes fast and easy when the time comes…

Last, the 507C also features the Trijicon RMR mounting footprint which means you can easily mount it on to your P320 X5 with the use of an adapter plate (here’s an adapter plate that I like)…

So all in all, I love the Holosun 507C because it’s a more affordable option than some of the others on this list, but at the same time, it doesn’t sacrifice on quality, and that 3 reticle options can really help you customize the reticle to what works best for you.

The Holosun 507C X2 Features And Benefits

Super LEDIt provides a quality illuminated reticle catering to bright and low-light scenarios
Multilayer Lens CoatingsTo allow optimal light transmission, durability, and less glare
Multi Reticle SystemIt combines the 2 MOA dot with a 32 MOA circle for better target acquisition
Shake AwakeTo preserve battery life
Solar FailsafeProvides power when your battery does not

5. Crimson Trace RAD Pro (Great Budget Option)

sig p320 x5 legion red dot install

Number 5 is the new kid on the block, the Crimson Trace RAD Pro, and apart from being a relatively new offering, it has some remarkable features and comes in at an affordable price…

It is a full-size open reflex Red Dot sight for full-frame pistols and it features a 3 MOA dot, which is a great size for fast target acquisition and shooting. It also gives you a large window, and it’s durable with the angles on the sight housing designed to protect the optic from impacts…

On top of that, its ambient light sensor will auto-adjust the dot’s brightness to the surrounding light conditions, and it will shut down after two minutes of no movement (thus saving you battery life) and then turn on again when the optic senses movement…

The battery life is ultra long and will last for around 20,000 hours (2 years) on one CR1632 battery, and you can change out your battery (when the time comes) from the top of the optic, so there’s no need to remove the sight from your slide and then go through the hassle of re-zeroing after…

Last, the CT RAD Pro features the Docter pattern footprint, and you can easily mount it to the X5 Legion with an adapter plate (such as the one here)…

So all in all, the Crimson Trace Rad Pro is another fantastic little red dot, that will pair nicely with the X5 Legion and won’t break the bank in the process.

The Crimson Trace RAD Pro Features And Benefits

It also comes in an ‘Optic Ready’ configuration, and that means that you can easily mount a red dot on your Ruger Max 9, as long as it features the J-Point and Shield Pattern footprint…

Luckily, there are a number of high quality red dots that come with this footprint, but the big question remains… what’s the best Ruger Max 9 red dot?

Well, in this article, I’m going to tell you what I think is the best red dot for the Max 9, and I’ll be doing that by giving you my Top 5 list of red dot sights for the Ruger Max 9…

By the end, you’ll have a solid understanding of what some of the best red dot sights have to offer currently

And you should be able to determine which is going to work best for you…

Let’s get started!

Best Ruger Max 9 Red Dot – Top 5 List…

The best Ruger Max 9 red dot is the Holosun 507K. It’s the best because it’s built to be extremely durable and it features around 50,000 hours of battery life. It’s also packed with other useful features such as the Multiple Reticle System, the side loading battery tray, and the ability to lock out the brightness settings…

Below, I’ll give you more detail explaining why I think the Holosun 507K is the best…

And I’ll also share with you 4 other fantastic red dot options that you should consider for your Max 9.

1. Holosun 507K X2 (Best Overall Pick!)

best red dot for ruger max-9

The Holosun 507K X2 is an extremely popular optic for concealed carry guns, and for good reason…

First of all, it’s proven itself to be extremely durable especially for such a small optic, and it’s also incredibly reliable. I actually use it as my own concealed carry red dot, and I have never had any issues with durability or reliability, even when shooting with it in the rain (it is waterproof)…

Another feature that I love about the 507K is the Multiple Reticle System that you get. It includes 3 reticle options such as the 2 MOA dot, a 32 MOA Circle, or a combination of the two which is the Holosun Circle Dot reticle…

Out of the 3, my favorite is the Circle Dot reticle because it’s incredibly fast to acquire a sight picture, but at the same time, you still have a 2 MOA dot in the center for precise shots that require a high degree of accuracy…

Also with the 507k, you get a total of 10 daylight brightness settings and 2 night vision settings, and the brightness settings get extremely bright and are easy to pick up even if you’re shooting on a bright, sunny day (like I usually do in the Vegas desert)…

On top of all that, the 507k gives you 50,000 hours of battery life (which is over 5 years), and when it is time to change the battery, it has a side loading battery tray, which makes changing out the battery fast and easy…

Last, it also features Holosun’s Shake Awake technology which is going keep your optic ready to go at all times and save you battery life at the same time, and it’s footprint will allow you to mount it directly to the Ruger Max 9’s slide without any issues at all…

So all in all, the Holosun 507K is my number 1 choice for the Ruger Max 9 (and any slimline handgun really) because it’s extremely durable, reliable, and packed with useful features like multiple reticles and super long battery life!

2. Shield RMSc

ruger max-9 red dot compatibility

The Shield RMSc is a small, compact red dot sight that can be used on various handguns, including the Ruger Max 9. It’s small and compact, tough enough to withstand brutal recoil from a handgun, and comes with some very useful features…

It can be had in two main configurations, with a 4 minute of angle (MOA) reticle which will help you narrow in your shots for accuracy or in an 8 MOA reticle which will help you acquire and shoot at targets with for lightning-fast speed…

It also has a durable aluminum housing and even though it’s probably not as strong as the Holosun 507k, it’s still plenty tough enough for concealed carry and range use…

On top of that, the Shield RMSc gives you a super long battery life which will last for a period of 4 years using 1 CR2032 battery, and it can he had with a polymer lens (if you want a little bit more durability) or a glass lens (if you prefer a touch more clarity)…

The sight is also an “always on” optic. So you won’t need to worry about turning it on and off, and it features specialized technology which automatically adjusts the brightness of the reticle to the ambient conditions that you’re in…

So all in all, it’s a reliable optic that will fit and function on your Ruger Max 9 without any major hassles, and it comes in various configurations which will allow you to get the exact features that will be most valuable for you.

3. Crimson Trace RAD Micro Pro

ruger max-9 accessories

Number 3 on the list is the Crimson Trace RAD Micro Pro. This lightweight open reflex sight is specifically designed for small handguns like the Ruger Max 9 and it features a 3 MOA dot reticle which is a great size for fast and accurate shooting…

It has a fully multi-coated lens that features a pretty big window and the ambient light sensors will automatically adjust the dot’s brightness to the surrounding light…

It also has a motion sensor which will activate the optic when your max 9 is moved, and this is after turning itself off (after 2 minutes of no movement) to save your battery life…

On top of all that, the Micro Pro is easy to install, and because it’s compatible with the Shield RMS and JPoints footprints, it’s perfect to drop right on to the optic ready Ruger Max 9…

Also, the sight’s top strap is constructed of Aerospace aluminum and designed to absorb impact (just in case you accidentally drop it). And it’s IPX4 water resistant and has a profile that will make it easier for you to rack the slide on your gun…

You also get eight daytime settings and 2-night vision settings with this red dot, and the battery has up to 20 000 hours of life which, again, will be extended because of the Shake Awake type feature that you get included with this sight…

So all in all, I think the Crimson Trace RAD Micro Pro is a tough, reliable little optic that looks great and will easily mount onto the Ruger Max 9.

4. Trijicon RMRcc

ruger max-9 red dot mount

Number 4 on the list is the Trijicon RMRcc. Now it should be stated that it’s bigger brother( the Trijicon RMR) is pretty much the gold standard when it comes to durability and reliability in hand gun optics, and when it comes to the RMRcc, it retains the legendary ruggedness and reliability of the full size RMR…

In fact, this sight is built from high quality aluminum and can withstand water depths of up to 66 feet! It also features a 3.25 MOA dot which is a great size for fast target acquisition and shooting, and it also has excellent battery life which will last you around 4 years…

The one ‘catch’ to mounting the Trijicon RMRcc onto the Ruger Max 9 is that it has a proprietary footprint. That’s actually not a big deal because there are adapter plates you can get which will allow you to easily mount it onto your Max 9’s slide (I recommend this one here)…

So all in all, if you want the most durable little red dot available for your Max 9 and you don’t mind getting an adapter plate to allow you to mount it, the Trijicon RMRcc might be the right optic for you.

5. Swampfox Sentinel (Best Budget Option!)

ruger max-9 upgrades

The last red dot on my list is the Swampfox Sentinel, and I think it’s the best option if you don’t want to spend too much money on a red dot sight. It has a black matte finish made of Aluminum and multi-coated glass, so there is no plastic body or polymer lens (like some other budget red dot sight options)…

Now, the Sentinel actually comes in two different models, the Sentinal-A (which is an automatic red dot) and the Sentinal-M (which is a manual red dot)…

Sentinel-A cannot be turned off by accident because it has no manual controls. It automatically adjusts the reticle’s brightness to the ambient lighting conditions that you’re in…

On the other hand, the Sentinel-M can be manually turned on and adjusted, which I actually prefer because it gives you a little bit more control. Both versions include a Shake N Wake function, which means they turn off after a period of non-use and turn on as soon as they sense motion (thus, saving you battery life)…

And they both run off of one CR2032 battery which can last you for around 2 years. So overall the Swampfox Sentinel is a well built little optic, and even though it’s not quite as tough as the Holosun 507K in my opinion, it’s a great optic if you’re looking to save a little bit of cash when putting an optic on your Ruger Max 9.

Gucci Glock 17 [Full Build List!]

/ by
Gucci Glock 17

My ‘Gucci’ Glock 17 is currently my favorite handgun… I love the way it shoots, I love the way it looks, and I just love everything I’ve done to it…

Below I’ll give you a full breakdown of everything I’ve done with it, and I’ll leave links to make it easy on you if you see anything that you’d like to do for your own gun…

1. Glock 17 (Gen 4)

Gucci Glock 17 Build

The base of this gun is a Gen 4 Glock 17. You can use a Gen 4 Glock 17, a Gen 3 Glock 17, or even a Gen 5 Glock 17, as long as it’s an early slide with no front serrations…

If you have a Glock with front slide serrations, you can’t get the slide work package (which I’ll discuss in a minute) that I’ve done on mine. So your Glock needs to have a slide with no front serrations.

2. ‘Valkyrie’ Slide Cut By Boogeyman Customs

Valkyrie Slide Cut

The slide work package that I had done on my Glock 17 is the ‘Valkyrie’ package and it’s done by Boogeyman Customs…

The slide milling is top notch, and in my opinion, it’s actually priced fairly reasonably considering the quality of the work…

As I mentioned before, to get the ‘Valkyrie’ cut, you do need to have a slide with no front slide serrations…

That said, if you do have a Gen 5 Glock 17 with front slide serrations, and you like this cut, you can go with the ‘X Carry’ cut which you can see on my Glock 45 here

3. Holosun EPS

Holosun EPS

I chose the new Holosun EPS to be my optic for this gun, and asked Boogeyman Customs if they could mill the slide for the footprint of the EPS (which they said they could do)…

I’m happy to report that it fits perfectly on the slide, and is very secure…

I chose the Holosun EPS because I wanted a to try out a fully enclosed pistol optic, and I’ve been very happy with Holosun’s red dot’s in the past…

So far, I love the Holosun EPS and consider it my favorite pistol optic because it’s durable, has a great field of view, and is loaded with useful features…

I chose the model with a 2 MOA dot reticle and without a solar panel on top (which saved me a little bit of money)…

The 2 MOA dot is my preferred dot size for a handgun optic because its easy for my eye to pick up, and at the same time, it allows you to aim very precisely at small targets or targets at distance.

4. L2D Combat Precision Match Fluted/Threaded Barrel

L2D Combat Precision Match Barrel

The barrel I chose for this build is the L2D Combat Precision Match Fluted/Threaded barrel…

This is an extremely high quality barrel. It is a match barrel, and I’ve found it to be incredibly accurate…

And I think the fluting, styling, and color (I chose to go with the Bronze), just go perfectly with the Valkyrie slide milling from Boogeyman Customs…

L2D barrels are awesome, and I highly recommend them if you’re looking to upgrade your Glock’s barrel.

5. Ameriglo Tall Sights

ameriglo suppressor sights

Because the Holosun EPS sits so low on the slide, I chose to go with Ameriglo sights that are just slightly taller than stock Glock sights

The front sight is .240″ and all blacked out (which is what I want when I’m running an optic), and the rear sight is .335″ (again, all black)…

They give me a lower 1/3 co witness through the optic, which is perfect for me because I don’t want my back up sights taking up too much area in the sight window…

I highly recommend these sights to go with the Holosun EPS because, again, the EPS sits very low on your Glock’s slide.

6. Streamlight TLR-1

Streamlight TLR-1

Right now, I’m running a Streamlight TLR-1 on my Glock 17. I may upgrade this light to a TLR-1 HL in the future for a few more lumens, but I haven’t decided yet…

I have the TLR-1 and the TLR-1 HL, and I like both of them.

7. Zev Pro Connector

Zev Pro Connector

Aside from polishing the stock Glock internals, the only part that I’ve changed out is the connector…

I replaced the stock connector with a Zev Pro Connector, and of all the aftermarket connectors that I’ve tried, I like the Zev Pro the best…

It lightens up your Glock’s trigger pull significantly, and because you’re not messing with any reduced weight springs, it’s still a 100 percent reliable (which is a must for me)…

This is an affordable and simple upgrade that I recommend for any Glock you have.

Best Shadow Systems MR920 Holster [Top 7 List]

/ by
Shadow Systems MR920 Holster

The Shadow Systems MR920 is a fantastic pistol…

It’s a similar size to the Glock 19, and it has many features designed to work with G19 accessories such as holsters and magazines…

Now, because the MR920 is compatible with many Glock 19 holsters, there are a lot of great holster options that might go under the radar…

So in this article, I’m going to share with you what I think is the best Shadow Systems MR920 holster

On top of that, I’ll also share with you 6 other amazing holster options for the MR920…

And that way, you’ll have a variety of great holster options to choose from, and you can compare the different options, to find the right one for you…

Let’s get start!

Shadow Systems MR920 Holster – Top 7 List…

The best Shadow System MR920 Holster is the Alien Gear Shapeshift Holster with the Core Carry Pack. It’s the best because it’s designed specifically for the MR920, it’s extremely comfortable, and it’s modular so you can configure it for multiple concealed carry or open carry set ups…

Below I’ll give you more detail explaining why I think the Alien Gear Shapeshift holster is the best, and I’ll also share with you 6 other amazing options.

1. Alien Gear ShapeShift Holster For The MR920 W/ Core Carry Pack

best holster for shadow systems mr920 elite

My number 1 holster option that is directly made for the Shadow Systems MR920 is the Alien Gear ShapeShift Holster with the core carry pack, and it’s an excellent option for several reasons…

Because of the comfort it offers you, the ShapeShift IWB Holster is an excellent choice for a concealed carry holster. The stainless steel frame of the holster provides structural support, while the flexible CoolVent neoprene base ensures that it’s extremely comfortable against your body…

In addition, the shell of the modular holster is attached to the base by a central mounting mechanism, and as a result, the holster can better conform to your body (again making it more comfortable…

On top of that, the ShapeShift Modular Holster System is built with the ShapeShift Core Carry Pack as its foundation, and the ShapeShift can be converted from an appendix carry holster to a strong side holster for IWB, to an OWB belt slide holster or an OWB paddle holster, and it call all be changed in a matter of minutes…

This modularity makes it the best holster for the Shadow Systems MR920 in my opinion, because you can use it for concealed carry or as an OWB holster, and there is no need for you to go out and buy multiple holsters…

So the Alien Gear Shape Shift is my number 1 pick because it’s comfortable, well built, and allows you to carry inside the waistband or outside the waistband extremely easily.

2. We The People Holsters – Freedom Holster Platform For Glock 19 (PLATINUM EDITION)

shadow systems mr920 holster compatibility

The We The People Holsters Freedom Holster Platform for the Glock 19 is my number two pick if you’re looking for a Shadow Systems MR920 holster, and there are a number of reasons why…

First of all, because the clips on the Freedom Holster can be moved to accommodate personal preference, it’s a great option regardless of whether you’re right or left handed…

On top of that, there are two ways that you can carry the Freedom holster: inside the waistband (for concealed carry) or outside the waistband. In fact, the number of possible combinations and ways you can configure this holster is nearly infinite. It offers over 2500 different configurations, and that really allows you to tailor your holster setup to your specific needs…

For example, the magazine carrier on the Freedom Holster can be attached to the central holster unit in various ways for maximum comfort and accessibility…

And when in the appendix position, the mag carrier can be moved up or down for greater comfort and easier access to the spare magazine…

So all in all, I really love this holster for a number of different handguns, and if you go with the model designed for the Glock 19, 19X, 23, 32, 45 (Gen 1-4), you won’t have any problems securely carrying your Shadow Systems MR920.

3. Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.5 IWB Holster For The Shadows Systems MR920

shadow systems mr920l holster

The next holster on my list is specifically designed for the Shadow Systems MR920, and its the Alien Gear Cloak Tuck IWB Holster. The “Cloak Tuck” Holster is a hybrid inside waistband holster designed to conceal a firearm so well that no one will ever know you are carrying it, and because this holster is so comfortable (do to the hybrid design), it makes carrying your MR920 an absolute joy…

It’s called a ‘hybrid’ holster because it combines a hard shell to secure your gun with a soft pad, and in the case of the Cloak Tuck, the soft pad is a breathable “cool vent” neoprene which makes the gun soft against your body and won’t make you get overly sweaty at the same time (the way some other hybrid holsters do)…

In addition to that, the standard nylon clips on the holster accommodate belts up to 1 1/2 inches wide, and there are a vareity of other clip options such as the steel clips which can accommodate belts up to 1 3/4 inches wide…

So all in all, the Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.5 is another fantastic holster option if you’re looking for an inside the waistband holster that is specifically designed for the Shadow Systems MR920.

4. We The People Holsters GLOCK 19/19X IWB HOLSTER

shadow systems mr920 appendix holster

Another amazing holster option is the We The People Holsters Glock 19/19X IWB Holster. This concealed carry holster is handcrafted to order from the finest materials available to fit the Glock 19/19X Gen 3-4-5, and because of that, it will also have no problem fitting your Shadow Systems MR920…

These holsters are made in the United States (in Las Vegas where I’m from actually!) and come with a lifetime guarantee, and the cool thing is that these concealed carry holsters can accommodate you whether you prefer to draw from the appendix (my preferred method of carry), the strong side, behind the hip, or cross-draw…

This Kydex holster is a high-quality, well-fitting piece that allows for the concealment and a simple, secure draw, and that’s important because it will enable you to quickly draw and re-holster your gun without taking your attention away from a potential threat or target. It also reduces the possibility of your gun being re-holstered along with a piece of your shirt, which can cause some issues…

All in all, if you’re looking for an affordable and high quality IWB holster to conceal carry your MR920, then this a fantastic option that you should consider. And last, I do recommend getting the Holster claw ‘add on’ with this holster because it will help you minimize any printing issues when you’re concealed carrying your MR920 in the Appendix position.

5. We The People Holsters GLOCK 19/19X OWB HOLSTER

shadow systems mr920 holster owb

Number 5 on my list is the We The People Holsters Glock 19/19X OWB Holster. The Glock 19/19X Gen 3-4-5 Outside The Waistband holster offers you a high quality OWB concealed carry or open carry option for your MR920…

Again, this holster is made for the Glock 19, but because the MR920 is a ‘Glock clone’ it will easily fit the Shadow Systems MR920 as well. Now as I stated, this is an outside the waistband holster, which means the holster itself will rest outside of your pants, and the advantage of this type of set up is that you can draw your pistol much quicker and easier than you can from an inside the waistband position…

Another cool feature of this holster is that you can adjust the ride height to get the holster in the perfect position for you, and you can adjust the cant (or angle of tilt) which allows you to tailor your holster setup to get the fastest and most efficient draw possible…

Simply put, this is another great holster if you want a high quality and affordable option to open carry your MR920 or to carry concealed beneath a large coat or jacket.

6. Alien Gear Cloak Shoulder Holster For The Shadow Systems MR920

best holster for shadow systems mr920 elite

There are a number of concealed carriers out there who prefer carrying with shoulder holsters, and if you fall into that category, I highly recommend the Alien Gear Cloak Shoulder Holster…

The Cloak Shoulder Holster features a harness system which is designed to work with the Alien Gear’s Cloak series of shells. The benefit here is that you’ll have the ability to carry other pistols aside from your MR920 or attache a weapon light or laser to your handgun while carrying it concealed…

The holster straps have belt hooks as well. These allow you to secure the shoulder holster straps to your waistband which will make everything fit you more securely and comfortably…

In addition to that, both the holster and the magazine carriers have adjustable cant angles, and you can actually adjust your MR920 to sit vertically or horizontally depending on what is most comfortable for you…

Last, this holster comes in black, brown, or tan leather, and it’s just super comfortable and high quality option if you like to carry using a shoulder holster.

7. Alien Gear Cloak Mod OWB Holster For The MR920

holster for shadow systems mr920 elite

The last option on my list is the Alien Gear Cloak Mod OWB Holster. This holster is specifically designed for the Shadow Systems MR920, and as you can see it’s an Outside The Waistband holster…

The holster comes with a paddle which allows you to easily wear it with a belt as an open carry option or OWB concealed carry under a large jacket or coat…

The holster paddle is strong enough to withstand everyday wear and tear, and in addition to that, Alien Gear improved the paddle design from previous versions by adding an inside lip to prevent potential attackers from unhooking the holster and disarming you…

It also features a spring-steel flex plate which helps make it extremely durable, and it also helps ad more support for your firearm which will make your MR920 more comfortable to carry around all day long…

All in all, this is another great holster option if you’re looking for an OWB option for your MR920 because it’s strong, well built, affordable, and easy to use.

Best Glock 48 Red Dot [Top 5 List]

/ by
Glock 48 red dot

As technology has evolved and red dot sights and handguns have become more compact…

An ever-increasing number of concealed carry gun owners have realized the advantages of having these optics mounted on their guns…

They help you shoot more accurately, and with a little bit of range practice, they help you shoot faster as well…

Now, the Glock 48 and Glock 48 MOS are two excellent 9mm chambered pistols…

In fact, there are many times when you’ll catch me carrying my own Glock 48 (you can check mine out here)…

But the question remains… What’s the best Glock 48 red dot?

Well, in this article, I’m going to share with you my Top 5 list of the best Glock 48 red dot sights

By the end, you’ll have a clear understanding of what the best options are, and you should have all the information you need to determine which red dot is right for your Glock 48…

Let’s get started!

Glock 48 Red Dot – Top 5 List…

The best Glock 48 red dot is the Holosun 507K X2. It’s the best because it’s extremely durable, has 3 extremely useful reticle options, has ultra long battery life, and is incredible easy to mount on a Glock 48…

It’s also packed with other useful features, which you’ll be able to find below in more detail…

1. Holosun 507K X2 (Best Overall Pick!)

glock 48 red dot holosun

My number 1 favorite sight for the Glock 48 is the Holosun 507K. This sight weighs in at a mere one ounce and is made from 7075-T6 aluminum which together with its square shroud design makes this sight extremely robust

In addition to that, the sight can withstand vibrations up to 5000G, and it can easily handle the abuse of being mounted on a handgun slide…

Now, the Holosun 507K X2 is available in red or green reticle options, and it includes Holosun’s Mulitple Reticle System which means you can change the reticle between 3 options… a 2 MOA dot, a 32 MOA circle, or the Holosun Circle Dot Reticle (which is a combination of the two)…

Out of the 3, my favorite is the Circle Dot Reticle because it’s extremely fast and easy to use for fast shots up close, but at the same time, you still have the 2 MOA dot in the center for more precision shots at distance…

Another excellent benefit of the sight is the shake awake technology that turns the sight on immediately when the sight detects movement, and when the sight is motionless it turns itself off. In practical terms, this translates to an incredible 50,000 hour battery life expectancy so you can pretty much mount the sight and forget about the battery for a few years (or just change out the batter once a year, which is what I recommend)…

Now speaking of the battery, this sight uses a CR1632 battery which slots into the side of the sight meaning you don’t need to remove the sight when it comes time to change the battery…

It also has ten daytime and two-night vision brightness settings which are easily selected using the up/down buttons on the side of the sight housing, and the buttons also offer a lock feature so you can select your favorite brightness setting and keep it locked in without the worry of accidentally changing it while carrying your gun…

Last, the rear of the sight housing has been machined into a rear sight which allows you to co-witness with your front sight and use as a back up to the red dot if it fails to work…

So all in all, the Holosun 507K is a very durable red dot sight, it gives you 3 reticle options which will help you shoot fast and accurately, and it has 50,000 hours of battery life (and shake awake technology), so you don’t have to worry about your battery dying at the wrong time.

2. Trijicon RMRcc

glock 48 red dot trijicon

My second choice for a Glock 48 red dot is the RMRcc, which is also specifically made to fit narrower concealed carry guns. The RMRcc offers all the features offered by its bigger RMR sibling, in a compact 1 oz (28.35gr) snag-free anodized 7075-T6 aluminum housing, and mounting it on the Glock 48 MOS is also a simple task using available mounts…

Now Trijicon sights have a uniquely shaped housing that is designed to deflect forces away from the lens in case the weapon is dropped or bumped. This makes the little RMRcc extremely durable, and that’s on top of it offering a superbly clear multi-coated lens and two red dot size options, a 3.25 and 6 MOA…

This ‘always-on’ red dot has eight-daylight and two-night settings and can be selected by the shooter by using the conveniently located push buttons which offer a lock-in mode that prevents accidental brightness adjustment. Alternately, you can select the auto brightness setting and it’ll do all the brightness adjustments for you which is really cool…

The battery life is going to last you for around four years which is very extremely impressive, and the very commonly available CR2032 battery is used to power up the sight. The battery is also snuggly sealed under the sight to keep water and grime out…

And there is a battery-saving feature which means that the sight resets to the auto brightness mode after 16.5 hours of inactivity…

Windage and elevation adjustments can also be done without the need for special tools, and overall, if you want a rock solid red dot for your Glock 48 and you don’t mind paying a premium for it, the RMRcc might be the right optic for you.

3. Shield RMSc

rmsc red dot glock 48

My next Glock 48 red dot choice is the ever-popular Shield RMSc which is a scaled-down version of the Shield RMS. What makes this mini red dot sight special is that you have four models to choose from. Two offering polymer lenses which are ten times tougher than a glass lens and two models with glass lenses if you prefer just a little bit more clarity. On top of that, two dot sizes are available (4 MOA and 8 MOA) in each model…

Now the lenses of the RMSc are very clear in color which is not always the case with red dot sights, and that helps ensure minimal target discoloration when you’re taking aim…

The always-on dot intensity is automatically controlled by the RMSc’s specialized technology, and it also ensures that the CR2032 battery lasts up to four years. The battery drawer is stored under the sight and is replaceable without removing the sight when the optic is mounted in position…

Another special feature of this sight is that it’s supplied with an angled one-degree shim for fitment between the mount and slide if additional elevation adjustment is needed…

Last, the RMSc’s sight housing is made from aerospace-grade aluminum and is anodized, and it’s certainly durable enough for civilian use on a concealed carry Glock 48.

Click The Button Below To Learn More About The Shield RMSc:

4. Crimson Trace RAD Micro Pro

best glock 48 red dot

The Crimson Trace RAD (Rapid Aiming Dot) Micro Pro is an amazing Glock 48 red dot option. The Pro version is available in 3 MOA red or green dot versions, and the housing is made from 7075 series aluminum and is anodized. The integrated rear cut-out doubles as a co-witness sight, and the lens top shroud is specifically designed to deflect forces away from the recessed multi-coated lens…

Another handy feature is a textured finish on the sides of the lens housing which allows you to get a better grip should you use the sight to help you rack the slide…

The CT RAD is also fitted with CT Radiant and CT Motion sensors. The CT Radiant automatically adjusts the dot intensity according to the ambient lighting conditions while CT Motion sensor automatically turns on the dot when the sight is moved…

And this can be a huge benefit to you because you won’t have to worry about turning the sight on or fiddling with the dot intensity adjustments if you ever need to use your Glock 48 during a stressful encounter. On top of that, the sight turns itself off after two minutes of inactivity resulting in the CR1632 battery lasting up to 20 000 hours or roughly two years…

Now, replacing the battery in some red dots can be a real chore because you end up having to remove the entire sight from your gun, but with this sight, the battery is easily accessed from the top of the sight using very basic tools of even a coin to remove the cover…

The IPX4 waterproof rating ensures that this sight will keep working for you in all weather conditions, and mounting is actually verye asy because this sight shares the Shield RMS and JPoint footprints (which are very common)…

Windage and elevation adjustments require the use of a special tool which is supplied with the sight, and you also get a handy rubber cover that slips over the sight housing and offers added protection for the optic…

Overall, The Crimson Trace RAD Pro is a strong little red dot, that is loaded with useful features, and it comes in at a competitive price point considering the overall high level of quality that you’re getting.

5. Swampfox Sentinel (Best Budget Option!)

glock 48 mos red dot compatibility

The Swampfox Sentinel has to be included in this list of Glock 48 red dot sights. This no-nonsense compact red and green 3 MOA dot offers excellent value for the money without sacrificing functionality or performance…

The Sentinel is actually available in two model variants. The first is a fully manual option (Sentinel-M) while the other is fully automatic (Sentinel-A). I prefer the manual option because I prefer having a little bit more control over my optic, but there are a lot of people who are really happy with the Automatic version…

Both models are made from hard-coated 7075 aluminum (so they’re tough), and they easily attach directly to the Glock 48 MOS via the RMSc footprint…

Swampfox also use multi-coated (anti-fog, hydrophobic, anti-scratch) glass lenses that provide you with an excellent sight picture. The lens housing is uniquely shaped when compared to other sights and does a great job at reducing the sights overall profile for concealed carry. And the red dot’s lens has a cherry color finish while the green dot version has a silver…

The manual Sentinel is fitted with digital brightness adjustment buttons, one on each side of the sight. There are ten dot brightness settings to choose from., and a really great feature is that the sight can be manually turned off by pressing the brightness down button for 3 seconds. To turn the sight back on, simply move the weapon and it defaults back to the previously selected illumination setting. This ‘Shake awake’ feature does a great job at saving you battery life…

The automatic version has absolutely no buttons other than the flush-mounted windage and elevation adjustments that require the supplied tool to operate.  The ‘always on’ feature on this variant ensures that the sight is always ready for use while a photosensitive sensor makes sure the dot illumination is always set correctly…

Both versions of the Sentinel sights are fitted with a CR2032 battery, and the battery is long lasting with a typical run time of around 2 years. So all in all, the Sentinel is a fantastic option if you’re on a budget and looking for a great red dot for your Glock 48.

BCM 14.5 Upper

The upper on my rifle is a 14.5 Inch complete upper from BCM. It’s just the standard barrel (not the BFH), and mine has a KMR (Keymod) rail because I bought it before them came out with the MCMR (M-LOK) rail…

The muzzle device is the BCM Gunfighter Compensator Mod 1 which was pinned and welded to the barrel by BCM when I bought it from them.

The BCG (Bolt Carrier Group) is from BCM as well.

Recommended Light….

Olight Mini Odin

I’ve tested out different weapon light set ups on this rifle, and some have not been great…

My recommended weapon light for an AR set up like this is the Olight Mini Odin because it’s tough, reliable, and has a fairly small profile (something I typically try to find with weapon lights).

Gucci Glock 48 [Full Build List]

/ by
<a href=Gucci Glock 48” class=”wp-image-8030″/>

As I’ve said before, I love Glocks…

Sure, there are tons of other awesome handguns that are accurate, reliable, and fun to shoot…

But none of them have the aftermarket support of the Glock, and that’s why I like to think of them as the perfect blank canvas if you what to customize a handgun…

Gucci Glock 48 – Complete Breakdown…

On this page, I’ll be giving you a complete breakdown of my Gucci Glock 48

I’ll break down exactly what I’ve down to this pistol, and I’ll provide you with links if you see anything that you want to incorporate into your own custom build…

There are some Glock 48 mods that I might do in the future, such as trigger upgrades and frame stippling, and if I do any of those things, I’ll be sure to update this list… Enjoy!

1. Glock 48

best glock 48 upgrades

I used to carry the M&P Shield (which is a great gun), but the grip length and magazine capacity left a little bit to be desired for me…

Because of that, I became interested in the Glock 48, and eventually made the switch…

I like the Glock 48 because it’s still very easy to conceal (for me), and even though it doesn’t shoot like a full-size gun, it’s still very controllable…

My ‘Gucci Glock 48’ that you see on this page, obviously started off as a standard Glock 48, which I think is a great carry gun even without any mods.

2. Kaplun KF48 Slide

glock 48 upgrades

I first saw this slide when another YouTuber did a video on his, and as soon as I saw it, I loved how unique and futuristic looking it was…

It is a complete replacement for the factory G48 slide (which I still have and it allows me to run iron sights if I want to), but I purchased it on ebay from Kaplun Manufacturing…

I got the KF48 Slide in Copper color, and I love it. It allows me to easily mount my optic, and it has never had any reliability problems…

I highly recommend any of the Kaplun slides if you’re looking to Gucci-out your Glock.

3. Holosun 507K

glock 48 red dot

The Holosun 507K is my favorite red dot if you’re running a dot on a small, slimline carry gun…

For me, the sight window is plenty big enough to get a good sight picture, but the sight is extremely compact…

On top of that, it’s a very rugged little red dot, and it’s packed with features like the 3 reticle options (I like the simple 2 MOA dot and the Circle Dot reticle), super long battery life, Shake Awake (which saves you battery life), and a side-loading battery tray (so you can replace the battery without removing the optic from your slide)…

So I’m a big fan of this optic, and I highly recommend it.

4. Ameriglo Defoor Sights (For Glock 42, 43, and 48)

glock 48 slide and barrel combo

I could have kept the factory plastic glock sights as a back up to my optic, but I honestly can’t stand the plastic Glock sights…

They have broken on me multiple times in the past, and I don’t like the fat front sight post…

So I upgraded the irons sights to the Ameriglo Defoor Sights (for Glock 42, 43, and 48 pistols)…

These sights are all metal, affordable, and they give me a very low co-witness through my 507K, which is cool because it gives you a better field of view when looking through your optic…

They’re also all black, which I like because it doesn’t draw any attention away from my target and the red reticle when I’m shooting.

5. Handle It Grip

best gucci glock

I love my Glock 48 because it’s a dream to carry, but it is a little snappier than my larger Glocks…

On top of that, the grip texture is really mild, and that would cause my hands to slip around sometimes when I was shooting…

Frame stippling is something I might explore with this gun in the future, but for now, I’m happy with these Handle It grips…

They went on easy, they fit well, and the rubber-ish texture helps me get a solid grip on this gun when I’m shooting.

6. Double Diamond 3.5 Pound Connector

best glock upgrades reddit

My one complaint about the Glock 48 when I got it was that the trigger was super heavy…

I don’t know if they all come like that or if it was just mine, but I wanted to make it better…

Luckily, it was really easy and inexpensive to do. All I did was polish the internals (here’s a video on how to do it)…

And I replaced the factory connector with the Double Diamond 3.5 Pound Connector…

Doing this drastically improved the trigger, and now this gun has a fantastic, smooth trigger pull which makes it way more fun to shoot…

Romeo MSR Vs Romeo 5 [Which Red Dot Is Right For You…?]

/ by
romeo msr vs romeo 5

Sig Sauer doesn’t need any introduction to the shooting community…

They’re well known for the quality firearms they produce, and with the adoption of the M17 by the US Military, they’re more popular than ever…

In fact, the first gun I ever purchased was a Sig P229, and I still love taking it out for a good time at the range…

But what many people haven’t realized yet, is that Sig also produces a pretty respectable line of optics…

They’ve got a bunch of scopes and red dots on the market, and they run the gammet in terms of price-point…

Now, two of their most affordable red dot sights are the Romeo 5 and the Romeo MSR…

romeo msr vs romeo 7Romeo MSR – Click Here To Get Best Pricing (Over 2,224 Customer Reviews)

And in this Romeo MSR Vs Romeo 5 comparison, we’re going to put these two affordable sights up against each other, and see how they stack up…

In the end, I’ll share with you which of the two that I prefer, and you should have all the information you need to determine which is going to work best for you…

Romeo MSR vs Romeo 5 – Quick Summary…

Both the Romeo 5 and MSR optics offer 2 MOA red or green dots, 1x magnification, and are parallax free. They’re also both compact sights that come with a high and low mount. They differ in that the MSR has around 20,000 hours of battery life versus the Romeo 5 which has around 40,000 hours of battery life and uses Sig’s MOTAC system to help save battery power…

There are other similarities and differences between these two Sig optics, and below, I’ll cover much of that information in greater detail…

Sig Sauer Romeo MSR Vs Romeo 5 – Similarities…

What’s immediately apparent between the two sights is that the MSR is slightly larger and just looks a little less attractive than the sleeker Romeo 5…

Also very evident is that the MSR is an all manual operated sight using rotary adjustment dials for all its brightness settings, whereas the Romeo 5 makes use of push buttons…

sig msr vs romeo 5 reddit

But that being said, there are a lot of similarities between these two little red dot sights

Both optics have sight housings and mounts that are made from aircraft-grade aluminum and are both suited for use on shotguns, submachine guns, AR 15s, carbines, and even full-size handguns…

On top of that, both optics offer red and green dot options and feature a 2 MOA dot reticle which I think is a great size for fast target acquisition and for accurate shooting…

They also both come with co-witness mounts that attach onto Picatinny rails, and the tools provided makes attaching either sight a quick and easy job…

Additionally, they both sport a multi-coated lens, a 20mm objective lens, and 1x (parallax free) magnification which makes them great to use for fast shooting and suitable for recreational and professional applications…

The table below compares the Romeo MSR and Romeo 5’s vital specifications…

Differences Between The Sig Romeo 5 And MSR…

There are six key differences between these two sig red dot sights that you should be aware of, and understanding these differences will help you decide which will work best for you…

1. Illumination Adjustment

The first major difference between the Sig Romeo 5 And MSR is that the MSR is an all-manual sight…

Apart from its manual on or off function, all other adjustments are made by turning a dial…

The ten daytime and two nighttime illumination adjustments are selected by turning the turret cap on the top of the sight, and this cap also houses the battery…

sig sauer romeo msr 2moa red dot black psa review

Push button controls have become the norm, but there are still folks out there that prefer rotary knob adjustments and they might like the controls on the MSR…

On the other hand, the Romeo 5 features the more popular system over the MSR and has two push buttons that easily control the dot brightness levels…

It includes eight brightness settings for daytime use and two for use with Night Vision equipment.

2. Optic Mounts

The Romeo MSR and Romeo 5 optics are both fitted onto 1.41” risers made from aircraft-grade aluminum…

…but the Romeo 5 comes with an additional low-profile mount that increases the versatility of the sight because you can easily mount in on non-AR-15 type platforms such as the AK and pistol caliber carbines.

sig msr vs romeo 5 reddit

On the other hand, the MSR just comes with the standard 1.41” riser that is made for use with the MSR or modern sporting rifle (which is another name for an AR-15)…

Now like I said, both sights feature this 1.4″ mount which will give you a co-witness with iron sights on an AR-15, but the MSR’s riser is skeletonized to save a little bit of weight…

Both sights will easily fit the standard Picatinny top rail on an AR, and mounting is quick and easy using the tool supplied with the optics.

3. Lens Covers

The lens covers that come standard with the Romeo MSR and Romeo 5 are worth mentioning as they’re pretty different designs…

The MSR covers feature clear lenses (so you can see through them when their installed) and are of the flip-up type…

On top of that, they’re completely removable if you choose not to run them…

sig msr red dot vs romeo 5

The Romeo 5 covers are of the bikini type connected with a thin rubber strap and which wrap around the lenses…

These are completely removed from the sight when you want to shoot with it, and they can be placed back on when the rifle and sight are in storage…

Both lens covers do an excellent job at keeping dust and grime off the lenses, but they work in compeltely different way…

The MSR covers add to the optic’s tactical look, but they are bulkier than the slimline covers of the Romeo 5.

4. Battery Life Expectancy

Battery life on both of these sights is very good…

The Romeo MSR has an advertised 20,000 hour plus (just over two years) lifespan, which is excellent given that the sight doesn’t have an auto on feature…

sig romeo 5 vs romeo 7

To get the most out of the battery, it makes sense to keep it running and remember to replace it once a year (in fact I recommend this for all of your red dot sights)…

The Romeo 5 uses a slightly larger battery than the MSR, and because of that, the battery life expectancy is better at over 50,000 hours (almost six years) which is incredible…

In addition to that superior battery life, the Romeo5 also features a battery saving technology called MOTAC which we’ll discuss further in a little bit.

5. Windage and Elevation

The Windage and Elevation turrets on both of these sights work in the traditional way by turning the dial in the appropriate direction, and adjustment can be done with a coin or a small flat screwdriver…

However, the Romeo MSR has dials that are completely recessed into the sight housing to ensure they can never be damaged or inadvertently adjusted…

difference between sig romeo 5 and msr

On the other hand, the Romeo 5 has standard windage and elevation turrets that have screw caps…

They still sit really low into the sight housing and are well protected from bumps and damage, but it is a difference design to the MSR.

6. MOTAC (Motion-Activated Illumination)

Sig refers to its motion-activated illumination function as MOTAC, and it is only offered in the Romeo 5, not the MSR…

Other manufacturers call it Shake Awake or Shake N Wake technology, but it’s basically means that the sight will automatically turn off whenit’s not being used and automatically turn on as soon as it senses motion…

romeo 5 shake awake

This is an excellent feature because it goes a long way towards saving battery power when you’re not using your gun…

But at the same time, your rifle and optic are always at the ready because as soon as you pick up your gun the optic will turn on before you can even look through it…

So this is a feature that I personally really love, and it only comes with the Romeo 5 (no the MSR).

Sig Romeo 5 Vs MSR – Final Thoughts…

So in the end, both of these sights are excellent affordable options in the optics market…

They both have solid battery life and a fast 2 MOA dot reticle, and they both come with plenty of brightness settings, waterproofing, and lens covers…

But which of these 2 optics do I prefer…? I prefer the Romeo 5…

Click The Button Below To Learn More About The Romeo 5 (Over 10,426 Customer Reviews!):

red button

I prefer the Romeo 5 for a few reasons. First of all, it has longer battery life and the MOTAC system which will save you battery life and keep the optic ready to go at the same time…

Aside from that, I trust the Romeo 5’s durability a little more than I do the MSR’s just because of the fact that it has been on the market longer and proven it’s self in the arena of ruggedness…

I also like that it comes with a high and a low mount rather than just a high mount like the MSR because that means I can easily put it on other guns like AKs, shotguns, and PCCs rather than just on AR platform rifles…

Last, I just like the look of it a lot better than the MSR, and for me, the price difference between the two ins’t that big of a deal…

Now if you’re getting a red dot for an AR-15, want to save a little bit of money, and are happy with the MSR’s features then feel free to go for it because i think it’s still a worthy optic…
