bushmaster mini red dot sight

The Bushmaster AR-15, or MX-15 as it’s known, is an awesome rifle based on the classic M-16/AR-15 design

And whether you have one for sport or for home defense, adding a quality, lightweight red dot sight will certainly help you shoot faster and more accurately…

The only question is… What’s the best Bushmaster mini red dot sight…?

Well, that’s what I intend to answer for you in this post, and I’ll be doing that by giving you my list of the top 5 best red dot sights for the Bushmaster AR-15…

By the end, you’ll know many of the best red dot options that are currently available, and you should have all the information you need to determine which is going to work best for you…

Let’s get started!

Bushmaster Mini Red Dot Sight – Top 5 List…

The best Bushmaster mini red dot sight is the Aimpoint Micro T2. It’s the best because it has ultra long battery life (around 50,000 hours), an extremely clear lens, and it’s very ruggedly built…

It also has a long track record for reliability and has been used in the toughest conditions by military and law enforcement personnel…

Below, I’ll give you more detail explaining why I think the Aimpoint Micro T2 is the best, and I’ll also share with you 4 other fantastic options that you should consider…

1. Aimpoint Micro T2 (Best Overall Pick!)

The Aimpoint Micro T2 takes top honors for many reasons. For starters, it has 50,000-hour battery life (so it won’t die on you at the wrong time), a rugged housing made from high-quality aluminum, and even water resistance up to 80 ft (so you could even go scuba diving with it)…

Its rugged build and useful features make it an ideal mini-red dot sight for any AR-15 including the Bushmaster. I also like that the Micro T2 has eight daylight brightness settings, including an extra-bright setting, four night-vision compatible setting options, and that incredibly long battery life (which means you can keep the sight always ready to go without worrying about the battery dying on you)…

For fast target acquisition, whether for CQB or longer ranges, I find that the 2 MOA dot reticle is fantastic, and the sight picture that you get is extremely crisp and clear…

On top of that, the super clear field of view that you get is courtesy of some of Aimpoint’s advanced cutting-edge coatings, and the anodized surface and impact-hardened construction make this sight exceptionally durable and reliable in any scenario…

Also, because the adjustment dials are protected, there is little risk of accidental adjustment while you’re under fire, pushing through the bush, or working your way through other obstacles…

Last, the Micro T2 is super lightweight at just 3oz, and adding it to your Bushmaster will keep your rifle lightweight, handy, and fast into action.

So all in all, the Aimpoint Micro T2 is still the king of mini red dot sights because its durability, reliability, and overall build quality are pretty much unmatched.

2. Trijicon MRO 1x25mm 2MOA Reticle

best mini red dot sights

The Trijicon’s MRO is another excellent optic option for the Bushmaster, and I place it at number 2 on my list. One of the most obvious and stand-out features that you get on the MRO is the larger-than-standard objective lens, which gives you a super wide field of view and is perfect for a rifle like the Bushmaster AR…

Having a larger field of view (especially on a mini red dot) allows you to see more while you’re aiming and shooting, and that’s always a benefit when you’re putting rounds down range or using your rifle for more serious purposes…

Now the reticle that you get on the MRO is a 2 MOA red dot, just like with the Aimpoint Micro T2, and as I mentioned earlier, this is a great size reticle for shooting fast and for making accurate shots at distance…

Next, I should mention that the MRO is another extremely durable red dot sight. It rivals the Aimpoint T2 in terms of durability and reliability, and even though it doesn’t have quite as long a track record as the Micro T2, it’s been around for a few years now and has developed its own well-earned reputation for toughness…

I also like that the MRO has around 4 years worth of battery life and that its brightness adjustment knob is on top of the sight, making it very quick to adjust. It does have eight brightness settings you can choose from, two of which are night vision compatible if you want to use it along with Night Vision equipment…

On top of that, the elevation and windage turrets are recessed into the sight housing (which keeps them well protected), but they’re still easily adjustable with a coin or even the rim of a cartridge…

Last, the dry nitrogen purging and sturdy housing protect the optic from dust and water, and its hard-anodized non-glare black finish is super-tough and durable as well…

So all in all, the Trijicon MRO is another amazing red dot sight because it’s super tough, has great battery life, and gives you a huge field of view with the large objective lens.

3. Holosun HS503CU

best red dot scope for 450 bushmaster

The Holosun HS503CU is another good option for the Bushmaster rifle. Among other features, it offers a solar backup system that allows you to run the sight even without a battery if needed…

Another feature that I absolutely love about this red dot sight is the reticle. Holosun actually gives you two programmable reticle choices in this sight that you can choose between…

The two reticle choices include a 2 MOA dot (just like the Micro T2 and MRO), or a 2 MOA dot surrounded by a 65 MOA Circle (the Holosun Circle Dot Reticle)…

Out of the two, the Circle Dot Reticle is my favorite. In fact, it’s my favorite on any red dot sight because the 65 MOA Circle allows you to shoot incredibly fast at large targets up close, and at the same time, you still have the 2 MOA dot for precision shots in the distance…

It’s an awesome reticle, and I love running it on one of my AR-15s. Now, this sight also offers twelve brightness settings, two of which are night-vision compatible, and the battery life is 50 000 hours or five years on setting 6.

On top of that, it features Holosun’s Shake Awake technology, which means that the sight will automatically turn off when it’s not in use (saving you battery life), and it’ll automatically turn on as soon as it senses motion…

Now, like I mentioned earlier, this sight also has a Solar Failsafe. This means that the sight can run without a battery, as long as you have sunlight to power it, and I love that feature because it can also be used to save you battery life (because you can quickly switch it to solar mode when you take your rifle out for a range day)…

Last, the Holosun 503CU is roughly the same size as the Aimpoint Micro T2, and it features the same footprint (so you have all the same mounting options). The major difference is that the 503CU is a much more affordable option than the Micro T2…

So all in all, I’m a big fan of this sight because I love the Circle Dot Reticle, the long battery life, the Shake Awake technology, and the Solar Failsafe. It’s completely packed with useful features, and at the same time, it comes in at a surprisingly affordable price point.

4. Trijicon RMR Type 2

trijicon rmr type 2

The Trijicon RMR (Ruggedized Miniature Reflex) is number 4 on my list, and it really lives up to its name. It is the smallest sight on my list, but it’s extremely rugged and is a great option for the Bushmaster AR for many reasons…

Trijicon has long been a leader in the world of sights and optics, and the RMR series of sights is one of their most popular offerings…

And even though most people think of the RMR as a pistol optic, it was originally designed to be a super small red dot for a carbine or rifle, and it still fits really well in that role today…

For starters, the RMR is made from a tough, forged aluminum housing, and it’s waterproof to a depth of 66ft or 20m. On top of that, the elevation and windage dials offer distinct, audible clicks upon adjustment, and the RMR Series has different MOA options with 1MOA, 3.25 MOA, and 6.5MOA being the most popular options (I recommend the 3.25 MOA version)…

These sights also offer you eight brightness settings, easy switching between manual and automatic brightness mode, unlimited eye relief, true color multicoated optics, and a good field of view (considering their small size)…

Last, the battery life on the sight will last you for around 40,000 hours or four years, and because it’s such a popular optic, there are tons of mounts available that will allow you to easily mount it onto your Bushmaster.

So all in all, I think the Trijicon RMR is a great option if you want a super mini red dot, which as I mentioned before will keep your Bushmaster extremely light, easy to carry, and fast into action…

5. Sig Sauer Romeo5 (Best Budget Pick!)

sig sauer romeo5

Number 5 on the list is the Sig Sauer Romeo5, and this is a fantastic option especially if you’re on a budget. This mini red dot sight is tough, lightweight, and feature-packed…

For starters, the battery life is rated at 40,000 hours or the equivalent of four years. So as I’ve mentioned before, you don’t need to worry about the battery dying on you (especially if you change it out once a year which I do recommend)….

In addition to that, Sig’s MOTAC system shuts the optic down when no motion is detected for two minutes and then reactivates to the setting it was on before it switched off as soon as the optic senses any motion at all. This is a fantastic feature to have in a budget red dot sight because it saves your battery life, which is already super long anyway…

Now, the reticle that you get is a 2 MOA red dot, which as I mentioned earlier is fantastic for fast target acquisition for CQB and for longer range encounters where you need some precision…

And the push button brightness adjustment is very easy to use, and will allow you to dial in the brightness of the dot to the perfect setting…

All in all, I think if you’re on a budget, and want a 2 MOA red dot with great battery life, you can’t do any better than the Sig Romeo5.
